what it is
KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone — lysine, proline, valine. The parent hormone has well-described anti-inflammatory activity, and this fragment appears to retain some of it while lacking the pigmentation effects, which is what makes it interesting as a research target.
what the evidence shows
Preclinical work, concentrated in models of intestinal inflammation, reports reductions in inflammatory markers and tissue damage. The mechanistic rationale is coherent and the animal results are consistent. Human trials of consequence have not been published.

what stays uncertain
Essentially the whole clinical picture: dose, route, bioavailability, and whether the effects observed in rodent colitis models mean anything for human inflammatory disease. Oral and topical routes are both discussed with little evidence distinguishing them.
the practical note
KPV occupies the same position as much of this category — plausible mechanism, tidy preclinical story, no clinical evidence. That combination is not a reason to dismiss it as a research target and is not a basis for using it either.
